UPDATE: Traffic is currently being detoured to Rt 33 S. in Northampton County due to an earlier accident, according to WFMZ News. One fatality has been confirmed, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
One westbound lane of Route 22 had initially been closed. It has since reopened, according to the news report.
Pennsylvania State Police confirmed Route 22 East is still closed at Route 33.
Both EB and 1 WB lane of Rt. 22 are closed at Rt. 33 in Northampton County due to a fatal accident this morning. According to an earlier report by Northampton County Emergency Alerts, the accident involved a 2 Vehicle Head On (1 Rolled Over) motor vehicle accident with Injuries and fire. 1 Fatality, 2 other Patients.
There were reports of a wrong-way driver causing a head-on collision, according to the report.
