Stefko Boulevard closed after fatal crash Sunday evening

BETHLEHEM, Pa- On August 4, 2024, at 6:32 pm, the Bethlehem Police Department responded to the intersection of Stefko Blvd. and Bayard St. for a report of a vehicle accident with injuries, according to a news release.


Upon arrival, officers located a single-vehicle accident involving a vehicle into utility poles, according to police.


Bystanders had already removed one occupant and began providing first aid.



A second occupant was trapped inside the vehicle, and had to be extricated with the assistance of the Bethlehem Fire Department. Police say that occupant was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to survive. Tragically, the other occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene.


Speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in this accident, according to the news release.

Stefko Blvd. is expected to remain closed for an extended period while police continue to investigate. No word on when it will reopen.
