STROUDSBURG, Pa. - A man was severely injured in a tractor-trailer fire on I-80 East Friday evening, resulting in the closure of the roadway in both directions.
The Stroudsburg fire company's Facebook page reported that Stroudsburg and Stroud Township fire crews arrived at the scene between exits 307 and 305 around 7:30 p.m. to find the fully-loaded tractor-trailer ablaze.
The trailer was carrying window air conditioners destined for a distribution facility.

Scott Buchanan of Stroudsburg heroically rescued the driver from the wreckage by removing the windshield, just in time before the truck burst into flames.

The man was seriously injured and flown to a burn center by MedEvac helicopter, according to a news report from WFMZ.
Fire crews from Stroudsburg, Stroud Township, Shawnee, Pocono Township and East Stroudsburg assisted along with Tankers from Shawnee, Blue Ridge and Jackson.
The roadway was later reopened, and the bridge has been inspected by engineers. There was no environmental hazard, according to the fire department.
