BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa -The suspect in Monday's attempted robbery at the Bethlehem Square Mall on Nazareth Pike in Bethlehem Township was apprehended Tuesday morning at approximately 2:00 am, according to a press release from Bethlehem Police.
At approximately 1:30 am, Bethlehem Township Officers were called to the WoodSpring Suites Hotel located at 4016 Christian Spring Road after receiving a report the suspect appeared at the hotel, according to the report.
The hotel is located in the area of Rt. 22 and Nazareth Pike, not far from the Bethlehem Square Mall.
According to police, robbery Suspect Zymaire Tayron Greene, age 21, fled on foot just prior to police arrival but was taken into custody a short time later along Rt. 22 in Bethlehem Township.
Troopers from Pennsylvania State Police – Bethlehem, who were responding to assist, located the suspect along Rt. 22 and took him into custody without incident. A stolen handgun was recovered at that time.
Bethlehem Township Police Department Investigators were able to identify Greene after determining he was staying at the WoodSpring Hotel.
During the investigation, officers also were able to identify Greene as the suspect in an almost identical robbery attempt that occurred on November 30th, according to the press release.
Greene is charged with two counts of Attempted Robbery with a firearm, which are Felonies of the 1st degree, two counts of terroristic threats, two counts of simple assault, and one count of evading arrest.
Greene is currently being held Tuesday at the Northampton County Prison Central Booking Center pending arraignment on the criminal charges.
Officers from the Bethlehem Township Police Department were assisted by officers from the City of Bethlehem Police Department, Colonial Regional Police Department, Palmer Township Police Department, and Pennsylvania State Police Troop M – Bethlehem.
