Sioux City, Iowa,
Imagine going to Target, taking out a shopping cart and insides an enormous snake! That's just what happened to a shopper in Sioux City, Iowa.
It happened early last Saturday morning when a shopper found a six-foot-long boa constrictor in her shopping cart.
According to the Oakland Zoo, it was a Columbian red-tailed boa, a nonvenomous type that can grow six to ten feet long and weigh up to 50 pounds.
Police believe the snake was put in the shopping cart intentionally, according to a local news report.
These snakes are known to have a tame temperament and strike only if under extreme distress.
The boa is currently being housed at a local animal control facility where it will remain until this Saturday.
"We're gonna put it in a rescue as soon as its hold time is up," one employee told Newsweek. "We're taking care of him, he's doing good. He's nice and warm, we have the heat lamps on him and he's been fed."
