The Lehigh Valley is under a Flood Warning as heavy rain moves through the area this evening

A flood warning is in effect until 3:15 am EST on Thursday.


Heavy rain is moving into the area this evening. The rain is expected to be heaviest through late tonight and will taper off by dawn Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.


Please stay safe and do not drive through flooded roads.

Turn around don't drown.

..FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 315 AM EST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Delaware, including the following
  county, New Castle and Pennsylvania, including the following
  counties, Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery and
  Northampton.

* WHEN...Until 315 AM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 910 PM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing or expected to
    begin shortly in the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches
    of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible
    in the warned area.
  - Some locations that may experience flooding include...
    Allentown, Reading, Wilmington, Newark, Easton, Middletown,
    West Chester, Bethlehem, Norristown, Chester, Pottstown and
    Phoenixville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around...don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most
flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when
it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
