Troopers in Ohio rescue piglet after it fell from a transport truck

A piglet that fell from a transport truck on an Ohio highway was rescued by police and will now have a new permanent home.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said troopers responded to a piglet running across U.S. Route 35 in Ross County.

Troopers went into action and safely captured this little piglet now named Pearl Pancetta and took her to the Ross County Humane Society.

"This little piggy DIDN'T make it to the market," the OSHP said in a Facebook post.

Pearl seems to have some road rash but no serious injuries, according to the Humane Society.

"Pearl will be joining some pot-bellied friends in a few days where she will live out her life and not become pancetta," the humane society said.
