Just two days after a gunman shot Trump in the upper ear at a Pennsylvania rally, he has chosen his running mate for 2024.

Former President Donald Trump has chosen freshman Ohio Sen. JD Vance to serve as his No. 2 in his bid to return to the White House, ending months of speculation about who he had chosen for his VP.

He said on his Truth Social Network, “After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio.”

Trump world insiders had long said the 78-year-old would choose someone based on “loyalty” and someone who would compliment his strong personality, but not overshadow him, raise money and be ready to serve.

The decision comes on the first day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and just two days after 20-year-old Thomas Matthew nearly missed Trump's head and killed retired fire chief Corey Comperatore who died a hero shielding his family from bullets as well as leaving two others who were critically wounded before he was shot and killed by authorities.

Trump had teased his VP pick over the course of his campaign, first claiming he had chosen his running mate - but refusing to disclose any details.

According to sources, Trump’s VP may face off against Vice President Kamala Harris in a vice presidential debate, if the two campaigns agree to a network to host the forum.

Former President Donald Trump is also calling for Secret Service protection for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Trump demanded Monday that independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. receive Secret Service protection, calling it the “right thing to do.”

“In light of what is going on in the world today, I believe it is imperative that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. receive Secret Service protection  - immediately,” the 78-year-old former president wrote on Truth Social.

“Given the history of the Kennedy Family, this is the obvious right thing to do!” he added.
