PALMER TWP., Pa. - Emergency crews were dispatched to the Giant on South 25th Street in Palmer Township on Monday following a vehicle accident in the store's parking lot just after 11:15 a.m., according to a press release from the police department.
The driver reportedly accelerated through the parking lot, hitting an 18-year-old pedestrian before colliding with a pillar located in front of the store, township police confirmed.

According to the police, the pedestrian sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The driver, who was entrapped, was extricated by Palmer Fire and then she was transported to a local hospital with moderate to severe injuries, according to police.
Police say that the crash was likely caused by either mechanical issues or driver error, as the driver was neither impaired nor distracted.
Following an inspection by the Palmer Township Codes Department, it was confirmed that there was no structural damage to Giant, according to the news release.
Despite the incident, the store remained open.
