Two people taken to hospital after fire breaks out in Alburtis home, two cats rescued

ALBURTIS, Pa. - Two people were taken to the hospital after a fire tore through a home in Lehigh County on Thursday, according to an article from WFMZ News.


The fire broke out in the 300 block of Franklin Street in Alburtis around noon, according to emergency dispatchers.

According to WFMZ, firefighters rescued two cats from the home and gave them oxygen before taking the animals to the vet for treatment.

According to a post on Facebook, Alburtis police commended the Lower Macungie Fire Department for ensuring the safety of all individuals and animals.

Crews shut down Franklin, Church and Main streets while they battled the fire.


WFMZ says the condition of the two taken to the hospital is unknown, according to the fire chief on the scene.


No word yet on what may have sparked the fire.
