Walmart in Lower Nazareth Township being evacuated following odor investigation, several ambulances on the scene

LOWER NAZARETH TWP., Pa - The Walmart store in Lower Nazareth Township, Northampton County is in the process of being fully evacuated Sunday afternoon, according to dispatchers in Northampton County.

Dispatchers say about 10-20 people with symptoms of nausea, coughing, and some headaches were inside Walmart. According to police, it smells like a pepper spray-type irritant.

Another 80-100 people in the rear of the store may also have to be evaluated, according to dispatchers.

Dispatchers originally reported it as an odor investigation.

Evacuations began around 3 pm.

The store is located on Route 248.

Several ambulances, police, and fire crews have been on the scene including seven EMS units from three EMS agencies, according to dispatchers.

Patients are now being transported to emergency rooms, according to reports.

At that time, there is no word from officials on what led to the odor inside the building.

Updates will be published as they are received.
