Walmart store in Northampton County evacuated Sunday due to odor investigation, 9 people taken to the hospital

On Sunday, the Walmart store on Route 248 in Lower Nazareth Township was fully evacuated due to an odor investigation.

According to a WFMZ News report, a total of nine people were transported to the hospital via ambulance after they reported that they felt nauseous. Several ambulances, police, and fire crews were on scene.

Police said the source of the odor is believed to have been an animal repellent returned by a customer.

The evacuations began around 3 p.m.

Hecktown Fire Company Chief Keith Brooks said, "We were dispatched for an unknown irritant that was placed into the store, causing multiple people medical issues."

All of the people taken to the hospital are stable and in okay condition, according to Brooks.
