TAMAQUA, Pa. — Dispatchers in Schuylkill County say a gas explosion took place at a well-known restaurant in Tamaqua on Sunday morning.

According to dispatchers, the explosion occurred in the kitchen at La Dolce Casa on West Broad Street.

Channel 69 News reported that a tank filled with liquid propane gas attached to an oven caused the explosion. The explosion blew open the oven's door — putting it out of service, according to Tamaqua Fire Chief James Connely.

La Dolce Casa is a family business, owned by the Picone Family. It is an Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria, offering exquisite Italian cuisine from pizza to hoagies to cheesesteaks to amazing dinner specials.

Thankfully, no one was injured by the explosion this morning and they were back in business this afternoon after police and fire cleared the scene. A TikTok post thanked everyone for their calls and concerns.

Broad Street was closed in the area for a time after the explosion, according to a 69 News freelancer at the scene.
